Spring Into Action: Serving with Care π·π₯ͺ
In April 2026, The Restorative Nesting Foundation continued our Spring Into Action initiative by gathering once again to serve our community through a simple yet thoughtfully prepared meal.
This monthβs menu featured a variety of subs and sandwiches made with assorted deli meats, cheeses, and fresh vegetable toppings. Sides included pickles, chips, apples, and yogurts to provide a balanced and satisfying meal. π₯ͺπ
Our youth volunteers played an active role by helping assemble sandwiches and portion sides so each individual was equally served. Through this hands-on experience, the children continued to grow in teamwork, responsibility, and the understanding that small acts of service can make a meaningful impact.
Remember: Every meal prepared with care is a reminder that kindness can be simple, thoughtful, and deeply meaningful. π·π
Standing with Jamaica: Hurricane Relief Support π―π²π
In November 2025, The Restorative Nesting Foundation partnered with Simone Francis, founder of Anansi Creative Studio, to support hurricane relief efforts in Jamaica following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa.
Through this partnership, we helped share an Amazon registry and facilitated monetary donations through Venmo to extend essential resources to families affected by the storm. Simone traveled to Jamaica to personally deliver supplies and support ongoing rebuilding efforts for communities working to restore stability and a sense of normalcy. π¦π€
For our family, Jamaica is a deeply cherished homeland that connects and unites us across generations. It was an honor to stand with Anansi Creative Studio in this meaningful effort, and our prayers remain with Jamaica as the nation continues to rebuild with resilience, strength, and hope.
Remember: When we come together across communities, our support can carry hope, healing, and strength where it is needed most. π―π²ππ½π
Welcoming the Season Through Service ππ€
In October 2025, The Restorative Nesting Foundation gathered with intentionality and purpose as we welcomed the change of season through service and community connection.
Volunteers prepared and shared a warm meal featuring turkey chili, rice, cornbread, corn dogs, and a variety of chili toppings. Our youth volunteers also helped bake sβmore cookies for dessert, adding their time, care, and creativity to the dayβs preparations. π²π½πͺ
Alongside the meal, volunteers held meaningful discussions about the importance of community service and what it means to be responsible, engaged, and compassionate citizens. The experience encouraged everyone to reflect on how everyday acts of kindness can strengthen and uplift the communities we are part of.
Remember: When we serve with purpose, even simple actions can create warmth, connection, and lasting impact. ππ
Back-to-School Bash: Helping Students Start with Confidence ππ
In July 2025, The Restorative Nesting Foundation had the opportunity to support our local community shelterβs Back-to-School Bash, standing alongside families as they prepared for a new school year.
Through our online registry, we collected and donated backpacks, lunch bags, and water bottles to help students begin the school year feeling prepared and encouraged. Once the supplies were gathered, volunteers sorted and organized them into complete sets for children of different ages and needs. ππ₯€
Our youth volunteers also created encouraging note cards filled with words of support, motivation, and kindness for children returning to school. Adult volunteers prepared and served a warm meal featuring pulled chicken sandwiches, baked beans, potato chips, coleslaw, pound cake, and ice cream. π½οΈπ°
Remember: Every backpack packed, every meal served, and every kind word shared helps a child step into the school year with hope and confidence. ππ
Serving with Flexibility and Purpose ππ
In March 2025, The Restorative Nesting Foundation experienced a season of shifting schedules and limited volunteer availability, but our commitment to serving the community remained strong.
Rather than stepping back, our volunteer group adjusted our approach and came together to raise funds for a shared meal. Through those contributions, we were able to provide an assortment of pizzas, salad, popcorn chicken, and ice cream for those we serve. ππ₯π¦
This event reminded us that service can take many forms. Even when circumstances change, showing up with consistency, care, and purpose continues to make a meaningful difference.
Remember: When we remain willing, even a simple meal can become a powerful act of love and support. π
Spreading Holiday Cheer: Christmas Stockings of Hope πβ¨
In December 2024, The Restorative Nesting Foundation came together to serve our local community through a Christmas stocking donation initiative for children residing in a nearby shelter.
Volunteers created and shared a community registry to collect stocking stuffers for children of all ages, from infants to teenagers. Each stocking was thoughtfully prepared to help every child feel remembered, valued, and cared for during the holiday season. ππ§¦
During the event, families reflected on the meaning of holiday cheer and what it truly means to be a cheerful giver. Youth volunteers decorated angel ornaments to share with the children, while adults organized and assembled the stockings with love and care. πΌπ½π
Remember: A simple gift, given with love, can bring joy, comfort, and hope to a childβs heart. β¨β€οΈ
Gathering in Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Service Event π§‘π¦
In November 2024, The Restorative Nesting Foundation gathered for a special Thanksgiving-themed volunteer event centered on gratitude, compassion, and community.
Volunteers prepared warm meals featuring smothered chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, southern green beans, and buttered dinner rolls. Dessert included assorted M&M chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies, all shared with care to bring comfort and nourishment to others. ππ₯πͺ
During the gathering, our youth volunteers participated in an arts and crafts activity focused on gratitude and appreciation. Through meaningful discussion and creative expression, children learned simple ways to show love, thankfulness, and support to the people around them. π§‘π
Remember: Gratitude grows when we share it, and even the smallest act of care can leave a lasting impact. π¦ππ
Serving Hope Through Meals & Handmade Encouragement π
In September 2024, The Restorative Nesting Foundation volunteers came together once again to serve our community through a warm, thoughtfully prepared meal.
Together, volunteers prepared turkey spaghetti, Alfredo pasta, broccoli, garlic bread, and sβmores popcorn for dessert. Each dish was made with care to provide comfort, nourishment, and support to individuals facing difficult life challenges.
Our youth volunteers also participated in a creative service project by designing handmade art pieces filled with messages of love, encouragement, and hope. Through both service and creativity, volunteers were reminded how powerful compassion can be in helping others feel valued and cared for.
Remember: Every meal shared, every message created, and every act of kindness helps restore hope. π
Inaugural Volunteer Gathering: Serving with Compassion and Purpose π
In July 2024, The Restorative Nesting Foundation hosted our very first volunteer gathering, bringing together children and adults to serve our community with compassion and purpose.
Together, volunteers prepared and provided warm lunches for 30 individuals staying at a local shelter. Each meal included hot chicken sandwiches, pasta salad, baked beans, fresh toppings, and homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Our youth volunteers helped assemble meals while learning about kindness, service, and community support. Volunteers also created a special Words of Affirmation book to encourage the children at the shelter and remind them they are seen, supported, and deeply cared for.
Remember: Every meal prepared, every kind word shared, and every act of service helps restore hope. π
